Why do I see a black screen when starting a session

Appetize uses the H.264 codec by default, but some browsers such as Chromium don’t natively support proprietary codecs like H.264, which could lead to issues.

To resolve this, you can try one of these options:

  1. Switch to JPEG codec: You can specify &codec=jpeg in the Appetize URL to use JPEG instead of H.264. More details are in Appetize’s docs.
  2. Use a Chromium build with H.264 support: Some Chromium builds include H.264, which might help.
  3. Try to use another browser such as Chrome or Safari.
